Non-Surgical Tennis Elbow Treatment Announced

At the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Allan Mishra announced results from the use of platelet-rich plasma to treat tennis elbow. In that study, the use of the plasma indicated that patients' pain decreased by 60 percent versus 16 percent in control patients after an eight week treatment period. For a six month treatment period, pain had diminished on average by 81 percent.

Dr. Mishra indicated that the plasma may allow for the treatment of severe tendonitis non-surgically. The treatment is currently under review by the FDA.
