BridgeCo through HelloSoft Enters VoIP Market with
PC Free Telephone to VoIP Converter
BridgeCo, noted for its network enabled digital entertainment chip technology, has moved onward and into the VoIP market. As a result
of its cooperation with HelloSoft, the two companies have developed a reference design for OEMs and ODMs to develop secure
VoIP Analog Telephone Adaptors (ATA). The adapter will allow consumers to plug any type of phone, whether its a wired or cordless
phone, into the RJ-11 jack of the ATA - enabling customers to make free or low-cost Internet based phone calls (domestic or
international). As well, the reference design includes both the hardware and software for complete ATA development. BridgeCo
points out that the solution does not require a PC. The stand alone solution, which offers an encrypted voice connection,
allows calls to be made as easily as your classical land line phone.
The reference design
is based on BridgeCo's DM830 media network processor and HelloSoft's VoIP software suited. The complete solution includes
a wide number of caller features. Among the many features are DTMF tone detection and generation, multi-protocol vocoders
and packet loss concealment.
