Quellan Inc, based in Atlanta, Georgia, announced its Nx2000 6.25 Gbps Quad Wideband Noise Canceller. The chip, designed as a companion chip to the company's Eq601 Wideband Equalizer, overcomes timing delays that are normally associated with wire traces, cables and connectors in high speed applications such as network communications. The new technologies' capability to increase the speed of the enterprise without expensive high-speed equipment was confirmed by Tony Stelliga, Quellan's President and CEO, "The Nx2000 provides OEM's the interconnect performance they've been dreaming of -- up to a 400% increase in speed -- all without having to change their interconnect infrastructure. This greatly reduces both capital equipment and development costs, while preventing costly network downtime required to install new interconnects. The Nx2000 quad canceller is fully adaptive to ensure the highest performance across a wide range possible system variations in Telecom/Enterprise, Network Storage, and Computing Applications."

The Nx2000 chip, an analog VLSI design with over 4000 discrete analog devices, is based on an algorithm that synthesizes network signal interference and then determines and applies a noise correction signal. In order to accomplish this, the chip is placed between the connector and the transceiver to cancel any signal coupling between local transmitters and adjacent receivers. To give the Nx2000 fully adaptive phase, amplitude and frequency control the chip includes eight channel emulator cores.

The chip, which has applications in a number of "market-demanding" areas, is priced at $99.00 in quantities of $500.00 and up. Power consumption is rated at 600 mW per receive channel.

Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM), with over 100 million Gigabit PHY ports shipped to date, announced another member to its line of PHY devices, the BCM5382 PHY chip. This chip is intended to complement Broadcom's BCM1103 IP Phone chip to give the designer a two-chip Gigabit IP phone solution.

Nariman Yousefi, Vice President and General Manager of Broadcom's Networking Physical Layer/Optical Line of Business, spoke about the speed and real estate advantages of the solution, "Our new BCM5482 dual port GbE transceiver is ideally positioned to accelerate the migration of IP phones to faster speeds removing the IP phone as a network bottleneck. In addition to bridging the IP phone gap between Gigabit Ethernet networks and PCs, our new dual port transceiver offers a more cost-effective solution (one chip versus two single port transceivers) and takes up less real estate in space-constrained IP phone configurations."

The BCM5482 is part of Broadcom's 0.13-micron Gigabit Ethernet-over-copper physical layer (PHY) device family, which includes over 25 additional quad and single port PHY/transceiver products. The Broadcom BCM1103 IP phone chip, which Broadcom bills as the world's first GbE VoIP chip, is sampling now. The BCM5482 dual port GbE transceiver is also sampling. Broadcom gave the price as $8.40 - quantities of 10,000 units.

Perfisans Networks Corp. (OTCBB:PFNH), a public fabless chip company focused on the Gigabit Ethernet market, is now on Aurelius Consulting Group, Inc. radar screen. Aurelius, which has started analyst coverage of Perfisans, will also lead Perfisans' institutional and retail investor relations programs.

Perfisans offers the ENA1001 Gigabit Ethernet Accelerator chip. A chip that according to a contracted report has won acceptance in the network market. Mr. Joe Berwind, who wrote the contracted buy-side report about Perfisans stated, "With current bookings of $1.5 million, and a further $3.0 million anticipated, Perfisans is well on track to meet its $8.0 million target for 2005, with 3/4 of the year remaining. It also sees nothing ahead of the company to inhibit it or reduce estimates for the out years. The Company is apparently poised for a period of hyper-growth. Indeed, management's own estimates for sales growth illustrate a lucrative opportunity I have not witnessed very often. Should the Company succeed and meet its projections, investors at these levels and appreciably higher could be handsomely rewarded."

To Hon Lam, CEO of Perfisans clarified the outlook given in the report, "I look forward to this report reaching our shareholders as it definitely shows the opportunity that Perfisans has in an ever-growing market. Although Perfisans has operated on limited resources in the past year, we have reached many milestones due to our terrific team of engineers and our contacts within this sector. As such, since launching our first product in September 2004, we have secured our first orders during the last quarter of 2004 and look forward to securing additional orders in the next two quarters."

Perfisans Holdings, Inc. was founded in 2001.

Big Bear Networks, a company that offers both network chips and modules, has introduced a family of 10GBASE-LRM transponders. These transponders, which are based on the IEEE 802.3aq draft standard, enable the transmission of 10 Gbps data over 300 meters of multi-mode fiber for Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) applications.  According to Big Bear, critical to the transponders performance is the advanced Big Bear electronic dispersion compensation integrated circuit inside. Big Bear indicates that the chip compensates for the significant signal distortion noted at 10 Gbps  in multimode fiber.

Big Bear President and CEO Amit Jain, commented on the market  potential,  "The installed base of FDDI optical cable is estimated to be more than 60% of the existing fiber used in enterprises to connect switches to each other. As more desktop connections are Gigabit Ethernet enabled, the aggregated risers in buildings need to be upgraded to 10GbE, utilizing the ubiquitous multi-mode fiber. We believe the market opportunity for Big Bear is tremendous."

PowerDsine Expands Marketing through Distribution Agreement

PowerDsine has announced a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro Inc., considered the world’s larges technology distributor. Ingram Micro will offer PowerDsine’s Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) products to enterprise customers within the United States.

PowerDsine offers both PoE systems and chips. These products permit power to be supplied to servers over data cables as opposed to power cords. This enables servers, surveillance cameras and other electronic equipment, such as VoIP phones, to be designed and installed without standard power cord connectors. The advantage of the technology is that it simplifies the installation and maintenance of networks and networked equipment. For example, extension cords or new wall sockets would not have to be installed for many applications.

PowerDsine for its fourth quarter, 2004, reported a 47.9 percent increase in sales over the same period last year. The increase was attributed to an increase in sales of the company’s Power-over-Ethernet products. Request More Information - Specify Company, Product, Etc.
