Report indicates Ethernet Metro Equipment Market expected to reach $7.6 billion
Infonetics Research's Metro Ethernet Equipment report projects that
Worldwide metro Ethernet equipment revenue will increase from $3.1 billion in 2004 to $7.6 billion in 2008. Another conclusion of the report is that port shipments will increase over four fold in the same period. The report also indicated that Ethernet services companies will also grow about 276 percent from 2005 to 2009, reaching $22.6 billion. Infonetics other report, Ethernet Services report covers a number of service provider which include SBC, BellSouth, Verizon, TWTelecom, BT, France Telecom, KT, NTT, AT&T.
According to Infonetics, Cisco led in switch and router market share with over 50 percent. Besides switches and routers, Infonetics added Ethernet Access Devices to its report, which the company indicated is the fastest growing segment of the market - expected to grow from $20 million to $492 million between 2004 and 2008.
