Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD) has announced that it
has shipped over 2 million DS3/E3 ports since 2002. According to Taqi Mohiuddin, director of marketing for Mindspeed, “This
is a consequential milestone for Mindspeed. Surpassing the two million port shipment mark reaffirms our market leading position
in the DS3/E3 market. ” Also commenting on Mindspeed’s DS3/E3 solutions was one of its customers, Mr. Yan
Xiong, Product Manager of Huawei’s optical network product line, “Mindspeed has been a trusted DS3/E3 solution
provider with innovative products that help us meet our design requirements,” said Mr. Yan Xiong, Product Manager of
Huawei’s optical network product line.
Mindspeed’s DS3/E3 products include discrete line interface
units (LIUs), framers and mappers, and its “line card-on-a-chip” (LoC), which is an integrated LIU, framer and
mapper. End equipment markets for these products that Mindspeed lists include ATM switches, digital subscriber line accesses
multiplexers (DSLAM), LAN/WAN routers, media gateways, multi-service provisioning platforms (MSPP), optical edge devices (OED),
SONET/SDH add/drop multiplexers (ADM), and wireless base stations.
