Reports through The China Economic News Service and Agence France Presse indicate that the state-run Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) has made plans to invest at least NT$ 100 billion for the development of offshore wind power stations. The plans calls for the establishment of over 500 wind mills. Agence France indicated that its reports suggest an investment more in the order of NT$ 120 billion. The capacity for each wind mill is expected to be 3.6 megawatts. InfraVest WindPower Co, of Germany, is reported to be coopererating on the project, expected to be completed within the next 15 years. Translated into United States currency, the investment would be in the order of $3.1 billion to $3.8 billion.
