Thermal Energy International Inc. (TSX VENTURE:TMG) new FLU-ACE
energy system was recently christened at Stratford General Hospital as the system began its energy savings mission. At the
ceremony was Hon. George Smitherman, Health Minister for the Province of Ontario and members of Thermal Energy.
Thermal Energy’s FLU-ACE is used to recover waste heat in
the form of clean hot water. specifically at the hospital it has been placed in the boiler room, where it has also cut emissions
significantly from the smoke stack there. Thermal pointed out that the FLU-ACE system will reduce natural gas consumption
20 percent at Stratford General and result in estimated annual savings in the order of $154,000. Greenhouse gas emissions
will be reduced about 20 percent, resulting in the removal of 776 metric tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) a year, or the equivalent
of taking about 170 cars from the roads.
Johnson Controls Inc. supplied the system to Stratford through a
supply and engineering contract with Thermal Energy announced in June of 2004. The FLU-ACE system is estimated to account
for more than one-third of the energy savings.
