Freescale Semiconductor has acquired Ottawa based Seaway Networks, a company who offers a network content processor chip called the  SW5000 Network Content Processor. That chip has been used in StreamShield  Networks ‘ Content Security Gateways  to protect against a wide variety of web based security threats in real time.  Forty of Seaway’s employees will join Freescale, most of which are based at its Ottawa design center.

Sensor Media Licenses Silicon Replacement Technology – Applicable to Biometrics, Solar Cells and Plastic Televisions
 
Sensor Media Corporation (SMC), a company that has at its core a polymer based technology that can be used to replace silicon technology in a number of applications, has concluded the sublicensing of its technology with Sure Trace Security Corporation (OTC:SSTY),  through its three subsidiaries,  SMC Solar, SMC Biometrics and SMC TV The specific intellectual property rights under consideration are for the development of solar collection systems, fingerprint imaging systems and TV backplane systems. As part of the agreement, SSTY also obtained the sole option to acquire SMC’s three subsidiaries. The three subsidiaries have already been granted exclusive sub-licenses to SMC’s technology. 
 
Sure Trace is a systems integration company that is involved in the anti-counterfeiting, security surveillance and integrated tracking device markets. Sure Trace has made plans to provide solutions that involve both its own proprietary technology and that of third parties, such as Sensor Media, through licensing and joint venture arrangements.
