LG Display Unveils World’s First 24.5-inch 720Hz OLED Gaming Panel

LG Display announced on the 21st that it has launched the world’s first 24.5-inch 720Hz OLED gaming panel.

According to the company, among all commercially available OLED gaming products, this panel achieves both the industry-leading 720Hz refresh rate and a 0.02ms response time simultaneously.

A 720Hz refresh rate means the screen updates up to 720 times per second. Higher refresh frequency enables smoother rendering of fast-moving visuals. Response time refers to the time required for a pixel to switch to a different color; the lower the value, the less motion blur and image ghosting occur in dynamic scenes.

To deliver stable 720Hz refresh rate at Full HD (FHD, 1920×1080) resolution, LG Display has developed a proprietary algorithm. The panel design and driving system are fully integrated, ensuring no stuttering or screen tearing even with the drastically increased number of frames processed per second.

This level of performance is highly suited for games that demand split-second judgment and precise controls, such as first-person shooters (FPS) and racing titles.

Meanwhile, the panel retains the inherent image quality advantages of OLED self-emissive technology. Each pixel emits light independently without an additional backlight, enabling precise rendition of bright and dark regions. LG Display noted that beyond the ultra-high refresh rate, the panel also delivers outstanding contrast and visual depth, further elevating gaming immersion.

This new panel will make its debut in ASUS’s ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS ACE gaming monitor.
