The report states that LGD has enhanced OLED durability and performance—including extended lifespan, higher brightness, and lower power consumption—through a stacked structure of OLED components. As a result, it has adopted "Tandem" as the brand name to emphasize the advantages of LGD OLEDs.
The branding of LGD's OLED technology comes 13 years after the launch of its OLED business. By systematically formalizing what was previously a technical term into "Tandem WOLED" and "Tandem OLED," LGD aims to convey consistent and reliable brand value to customers, thereby accelerating market expansion.
The brand name for large-size WOLED is "Tandem WOLED." "Tandem" refers to the stacked structure where the three primary color components—red (R), green (G), and blue (B)—are layered as independent layers. This is combined with a unique feature of LGD OLED technology: a white light source (W), creating an intuitive brand name.
The brand name for small and medium-sized OLEDs is "Tandem OLED," reflecting the technical characteristic of RGB components stacked in two layers.
As the world's first leading company to commercialize Tandem technology, LGD will further solidify its technological leadership position. It plans to attract the market with exceptional customer value, delivering clear and consistent light output, high efficiency that minimizes power consumption, and differentiated value that pushes the boundaries of design.
Reportedly, this technology brand will make its debut at the "CES 2026" exhibition in Las Vegas, USA.
