On November 14th, according to Omdia’s Display Long-Term Demand Forecast Tracker, global demand for display panel area is expected to increase by 6% year-on-year (YoY) in 2026.
Omdia stated that despite uncertainties surrounding U.S. import tariff policies and slowing economic growth—factors that are projected to lead to a 2% decline in display panel shipments—overall area demand will remain strong, driven by growing demand for large-size display panels. The firm noted that due to supply chain changes caused by U.S. import tariff policies and weak consumer demand, global display panel area demand will only grow by 2% in 2025, a slower pace than in 2024.

Omdia pointed out that the accelerated large-size trend in TVs and desktop monitors is expected to be the biggest growth driver. As consumers continue to prefer larger screens, demand for extra-large TVs (70 inches and above) and large gaming monitors is projected to increase significantly.
Secondly, falling production costs are another key factor. The end of the depreciation period for 10.5G LCD fabs and 8.5G OLED fabs is expected to drive down TV prices, substantially boosting consumer purchasing intent.
In addition, demand for new technology products will also be a significant growth driver. The continued expansion of the foldable smartphone market and rising demand for mobile PCs driven by advancements in AI technology are expected to support the growth of display panel area demand.
Looking ahead, panel suppliers will maximize the capacity of existing 8G and 10G fabs. Benefiting from increased demand for large-size display panels, factory utilization rates are expected to improve.
