RTX 4090/4080 collective price reduction

The RTX 4080 was quite unpopular after it went on the market. The price starting at 9,499 yuan is too high. It is rumored that there may be a price cut in mid-December.

In the European market, the price of individual models of RTX 4080 has been greatly reduced, which is already lower than the official suggested retail price.

Now, the official prices of RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 in the European market have dropped by about 5%. They were originally 1469 Euros and 1949 Euros respectively, and now they are 1399 Euros and 1859 Euros respectively.

It is expected that the price of the non-public version will also be reduced by 5-10% in the near future.

The magnitude is not large, and the damage is not small, especially the official price of the RTX 4080 has only been on the market for 20 days, which can explain the problem.

NVIDIA doesn't have any explanation for this, but I believe it doesn't need to.

Now, European players don’t have to envy North American players who continue to enjoy discounts during Black Friday, Chop Monday, and the year-end shopping season.

After all, manufacturers themselves will not admit to voluntary price cuts, including AMD.

But this price cut extended to the big price cut of RTX 40 series graphics cards, which is actually overthinking, because it just reflects the exchange rate fluctuations of the euro.

When the RTX 40 series graphics card was released, the dollar-euro exchange rate was 0.98:1, and now it has become 1/05:1, which means that the euro has begun to appreciate, and the corresponding dollar price has not changed.

This is why everyone only sees changes in the euro price. If it is really an official big price cut, the US dollar price should be adjusted first.

As an enthusiast-level graphics card priced at 12,999 yuan, the performance of RTX 4090 is currently unrivaled, and AMD’s new card can’t do anything about it. The main thing people struggle with it is the recent incident of interface burnout, and they are always worried about power supply and other parts. .

Regarding power requirements, NVIDIA officially recommends an 850W power supply. However, this power supply does not necessarily mean that it is sufficient, and it depends on various situations. A recommended configuration given by MSI is more detailed.

From this table, how much power RTX 4090 needs depends on the CPU. The 850W power supply is suitable for mainstream Core i5 or Ryzen 5 processors, and the high-end Ryzen 7 and Core i7 require 1000W power supply. Ryzen 9 and Core i9 are also 1000W, no increase.

However, if it is paired with Intel HEDT or AMD Ryzen thread tearer, then the power supply should be up to 1300W. After all, these CPUs consume a lot of power under high load.

As for the RTX 4080 graphics card, the overall power supply requirements will be lower, starting with 750W, Ryzen 7/9, Core i7/i9 only need 850W, and the enthusiast platform is 1000W power supply.

As for AMD’s platform, such as RX 7900 XTX, although the TBP power consumption of 355W is 95W lower than that of RTX 4090’s 450W, the power supply recommended by MSI is at the same level, starting at 850W, Core i7/i9, Ryzen 7/9. 1000W power supply, enthusiast platform also needs 1300W power supply.

It is worth mentioning that NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress said at the 26th Credit Suisse Technology Summit that NVIDIA hopes to restore the game graphics card market to a benign state of supply and demand balance before the end of next year.

In other words, NVIDIA intends to spend a year clearing up the current chaos in the industry.

Colette Kress also promises to resume stable shipments in the first quarter of next year as the RTX 4090 public version is hard to find.

In addition, Kress also revealed that other products of the RTX 40 series family will also be launched in the first quarter of next year, which means that RTX 4070/4070 Ti/4060 and even 4050 are on the way...
